Rotwood drops you into a wild, desperate fight for survival. It’s the latest brawler from Klei Entertainment—the same folks behind Don’t Starve and, yes, Hades. Here, you’re a hunter, and the world’s almost gone, overrun by crazed, corrupted beasts.

After a surprise 1.0 release on March 3, 2026, Rotwood really opened up. It’s not just about smashing buttons; try that and you’ll be toast in seconds.

Instead, you have to head out into warped, 2.5D landscapes, scavenge for resources, upgrade your gear, and prepare to take on Archdemons—massive, tough bosses with their own tricks and patterns. Beat them, and you push the story forward. Scott Pilgrim EX

What really hooks you is the combat. It’s deep and actually feels good. Every weapon—maybe you’re swinging a heavy hammer, maybe you’re poking from afar—has its own rhythm and combos. If you want to hit hard, you have to time it right, not just mash.

Nailing a Perfect Dodge, keeping your Hitstreak going while bosses throw ridiculous bullet-hell attacks at you—that’s what gets results. After each run, you head back to town, upgrade your gear, maybe try out some new armor or weapons you picked up from bosses like Grimhollow or Shelldrake. Each time, you head back in a little stronger, a little smarter.

Now that 1.0’s out, the world’s bigger—eight different areas to explore, like the icy Bonechill Quarry or the ruins of the old capital. Sure, you can play alone, but Rotwood really comes alive with friends. Up to four players can team up, online or on the couch.

And if you’re feeling bold, there’s a “Super Frenzy” mode that’ll absolutely test your limits. Whether you’re experimenting with boss weapons or scrambling to keep your team on its feet, you’ll only survive if you keep growing and adapting. In Rotwood, it’s all about how much you learn, and how hard you fight back.

Once The Rotwood is downloaded, right-click the .zip file and select “Extract to Rotwood ”(You’ll need 7-Zip for this, get it here).
Open the Rotwood folder and run the exe application.
Have a blast playing! Remember to run the game as administrator. If you get any missing dll errors, check for a Redist or _CommonRedist folder and install all the programs in there.
