GAME OVERVIEW

This game is all about dense, living cities—those places where every wall, alley, and rooftop has its own story to tell. It nudges you to think vertically, squeezing surprises into tight spaces and using clever lighting and decorations to give your creations some real personality.

You play as a surveyor, building and photographing 20 locations, each with its own character. One spot might feel warm and bustling, like the Hotpot Casino, while another feels gritty and cramped, like Marshlands Pipe, or quiet and lonely, like the Lighthouse.

You can upgrade bigger buildings and gates, but they only stand out if you really make them shine. Use lighting, utilities, and decorations to turn plain spaces into lively shops or packed apartments.

Space is always tight—every area hands you a unique mix of objects and makes you figure out how to fit everything in naturally. Maybe you add a neon sign, squeeze in a food truck, or tuck in some pipes and fences. The goal? Build something dense and believable that still feels like your own.

When you’re happy with your build, you snap a photo, add it to your dossier, and move onto the next spot. It’s a simple loop: create, capture, collect.

If you’re in the mood to let loose, Creative Mode unlocks everything. You get access to all locations and items—stack buildings as high or as wild as you want. There’s even a Blankspace mode, a huge sandbox where you can lay out your own towns or wild experiments without any restrictions.

The whole experience is laid-back. The calm vibe, chilled soundtrack by Macroblank, optional goals, and loads of little secrets mean you’re never rushed. No strict rules here—just you, your ideas, and a city waiting to be made. Take your time, play how you want, and enjoy watching your little world come alive.

Once The ShantyTown is downloaded, right-click the .zip file and select “Extract to ShantyTown ”(You’ll need 7-Zip for this, get it here).
Open the ShantyTown folder and run the exe application.
Have a blast playing! Remember to run the game as administrator. If you get any missing dll errors, check for a Redist or _CommonRedist folder and install all the programs in there.
