NINJA MASTER’S, the classic NEOGEO fighter from 1996, is back on PC. It’s everything you remember from the arcade—tight controls, serious atmosphere, all the original visuals—but now you get a bunch of new upgrades, too.

The story drops you in Zipangu, a kingdom that’s basically stuck in endless war. You pick from 12 fighters, including some heavy-hitting bosses. The roster’s got all kinds of personalities: Sasuke, the determined ninja, his rival Kamui, the elegant kunoichi Kasumi, and the martial artist Natsume, just to name a few. Every character has their own fighting style and special moves. The goal? Take down Nobunaga and survive a brutal, feudal fantasy world. Project Threshold

What really sets the game apart is how you can switch between armed and unarmed combat in a split second. That mechanic keeps things fast and tricky—you have to read your opponent, mix up your tactics, and always watch for that one opening.

This Steam release isn’t just a port with shiny new menus. There’s rollback netcode now, so online matches feel smooth, no matter where your opponent is. You get nine-player lobbies, a Practice Mode you can hop into while waiting for matches, quick ways to unlock hidden characters, and tournaments with all types of brackets (single, double elimination, round-robin). It’s a huge upgrade if you love competing online.

If you’re new or just want to sharpen your skills, the Practice Mode is loaded with options. You can adjust game speed, work on combos, and dig into advanced moves, getting yourself ready for challenges like Time Attack.
