GAME OVERVIEW

Alright, so this game is kinda wild — you play as a cicada. Yeah, like the bug. It’s set in the Japanese countryside during summer, and it’s all about living this super short, intense life. The whole vibe is kinda deep — your life is limited, and it’s up to you how you wanna spend it.

You can go all in, fight tough enemies, and try to leave your mark… or just chill, explore the fields, and enjoy the peaceful summer days. No matter what, your time’s gonna run out. It’s short, but it hits hard.

Instead of just leveling up like in normal games, here you pass your abilities on to your next generation. So if your cicada dies — and it will — your next one can be stronger, faster, and better. Escape Everlit

You fly around looking for a mate, pass on your traits, and then play as your own kid. It’s a cool system, and it gives you a reason to keep pushing forward even after you die.

There’s also a vitality system, which basically means you’re constantly running out of time. Your energy ticks down from the moment you start, and when it hits zero, that’s it. It gives the game this bittersweet vibe where you’re always thinking about how to make the most of the time you’ve got.

The world itself is super chill and nice to look at. It’s an open-world, kinda like a peaceful diorama. You fly around rice fields, tall grass, rivers, trees — the whole countryside summer vibe is on point.

It’s relaxing but also full of little discoveries, so if you’re not in the mood to fight or grind, you can just vibe and explore. It honestly feels like one of those slow, nostalgic summer anime scenes, but you’re a bug.

Once The CICADA is downloaded, right-click the .zip file and select “Extract to CICADA ”(You’ll need 7-Zip for this, get it here).
Open the CICADA folder and run the exe application.
Have a blast playing! Remember to run the game as administrator. If you get any missing dll errors, check for a Redist or _CommonRedist folder and install all the programs in there.
