This game drops you into a gritty cyberpunk city where gangs run wild and chaos rules. It’s a prequel to Huntdown, digging deep into how John Sawyer went from just another desperate bounty hunter to the legendary half-machine killer everyone fears.

Back then, he was still flesh and blood, doing what he could to survive as the city tore itself apart. But surviving here changes you. Every time Sawyer dies, he comes back tougher, upgraded with machinery, each failure pushing him closer to becoming a living weapon.

Gameplay? It’s pure adrenaline. You get old-school run-and-gun action that feels ripped right out of a VHS-era action flick. The controls are tight. The firefights are wild and relentless. You’ll chase bounties across gang-infested streets, trying to last as long as you can until, inevitably, you get shredded. But death isn’t game over. Every run, you push into new parts of the city—neon ghettos, crumbling wastelands, wherever these gangs have tightened their grip. The world shifts and reshuffles, so you never know what’s coming. You’ve got to learn fast, adapt to new threats, read enemy patterns, and claw your way a little further every time. Piece by piece, death by death, Sawyer morphs into something unstoppable.

There’s a ton of ways to fight. The arsenal spans firearms, blades, gadgets, and all sorts of modifications. Maybe you stomp in guns blazing. Maybe you go for brutal close-up kills, wielding batons and electrified blades. With each cybernetic replacement, you unlock new combat moves, boost your abilities, and invent playstyles all your own. Some upgrades stick with you permanently, so every failed run basically upgrades your toolset for the next.

Progression rewards you for experimenting, too. Weapon licenses, new mods, strange upgrades—these aren’t just one-and-done; you unlock them for good. Over time, you can build Sawyer into your own vision of the ultimate killer, shaping his powers to fit the way you want to play.

It’s not the usual polished neon look, either. The art style is all about that filthy, grindhouse vibe from early-80s action. You get gnarly pixel art, dirty shadows, splashes of red, and every explosion feels like something out of an old bootleg tape. The city doesn’t look clean or perfect; it looks dangerous and alive, soaked in raw energy.

All told, this thing is fast, violent, and hard to put down. It fuses that classic arcade feel with the addictive hooks of modern roguelites. Dying doesn’t mean you failed. Around here, it’s just one more step toward becoming the deadliest hunter this city’s ever seen.
