Stellar Tactics drops you into a sprawling, open-world space RPG that fuses old-school turn-based combat with a universe that just keeps growing. As of March 31, 2026, it’s still in Early Access, and honestly, it feels like a love letter to games like classic Fallout—packed with strategic depth and a galaxy that’s always full of surprises.

You’re not just anybody; you’re a genetically engineered mercenary, thawed out from cryostasis into a galaxy torn apart by a nasty, ever-mutating disease called the Phage. There’s a lot going on—politics shifting like sand, ancient alien threats such as the Azimuth, and everybody seems to want something from you. You’ll need to build a crew and dig into the origins of the infection if you want answers.

Space isn’t just a backdrop—it’s where the action happens. You can disable enemy engines, board ships with your crew, and seize vessels for a quick profit. If you’re more into business, plant beacons, stream live trade data, and turn yourself into an interstellar commodities tycoon.

Gear is a whole other story. The equipment system lets you deck out your crew with tons of loot, all upgradeable through Nano-Tech and whatever bits and pieces you scavenge from ancient battlefields. Crafting’s vital—you’ll need to process asteroid ore and make your own top-tier armor and weapons if you want to survive the deep-space missions.

Stellar Tactics is available on PC (Steam), and players love how the developer keeps things fresh with steady updates. Even though it’s a work in progress, the game delivers a “living universe” you can shape however you like.
