GAME OVERVIEW
Thomas & Friends: Wonders of Sodor feels like the best of two worlds – all the magic and nostalgia from the old Railway Series, now wrapped up in an incredibly realistic, modern simulation.
Yesterday, on March 17, 2026, Dovetail Games dropped this standalone expansion, running on the Train Sim World engine. This is the first time anyone’s recreated the Island of Sodor in perfect detail, and you get to see it all from a first-person view.
You actually climb right into the cabs of Thomas, Percy, Gordon, Emily, Diesel… messing with the controls and exploring places like Tidmouth Sheds and Knapford station, just like you always imagined. Hearts of Iron IV: Warships of the Pacific
The heart of the game is eight story chapters, fully narrated by Mark Moraghan, so it’s like playing your way through classic episodes—think “Thomas & Bertie’s Great Race” or “Percy’s Troublesome Day”—but everything looks and feels sharper, thanks to Unreal Engine visuals and Simugraph physics.
When you finish the stories, there’s even more to do. Take on “Timetable Mode” to juggle a busy day for the whole railway, try the “Shunting Challenge” to test your skills, or just wander in “Free Roam” and see what you can find.
Whether you’re pulling Annie and Clarabel down the Ffarquhar branch or taking the express over Gordon’s Hill, controls are clear for younger players but there’s tons of detail for anyone who loves train sims.
Wonders of Sodor is out now—for PC (Steam), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. You can drive, ride along as a passenger, or just explore Sodor on foot, searching for hidden goodies.
Dovetail really nailed it, bringing together the story and charm of the old books with the depth and realism fans expect from Train Sim World. If you love these “Really Useful Engines,” this game finally gives them a digital home worth visiting.

- Open the Thomas & Friends™: Wonders of Sodor folder and run the exe application.
- Have a blast playing! Remember to run the game as administrator. If you get any missing dll errors, check for a Redist or _CommonRedist folder and install all the programs in there.
