GAME OVERVIEW

Strategos throws you right into the thick of ancient warfare, letting you command thousands of soldiers on screen in battles that feel huge and alive. You get to relive real clashes from history or dream up your own, leading armies from all over the Mediterranean—and even further. Every fight puts your tactical brain to the test as lines shift, cavalry crash together, and the mood of your troops swings with every turn.

The game digs deep into the details. Soldiers don’t always charge in perfect order. Units chase down enemies or run for their lives. You have to watch your flanks, deal with tricky terrain, and handle the fog of war.

Strategos covers almost a thousand years of classical battles. You’ll see everything from phalanxes of Hoplites and the Persian Immortals squaring off, to the rise of the Sasanian Empire against Rome. Pick from over 250 unique units and nearly 120 different factions—Greek city-states, Carthage, Rome, Gallic and Germanic tribes, Iberians, Etruscans, and loads more—each one with their own strengths, quirks, and weaknesses that really reflect their history.

You can tweak just about everything. Build your own battles by choosing army lists, allies, specific units, eras, maps, deployment zones, how smart (or ruthless) the AI acts, and more. Go for quick skirmishes or deep, complex scenarios; random armies and hotseat play keep things fresh, and filters help make sure your battles actually make sense for the time period.

The campaign side is packed too. You get to reenact famous battles like Issos, Trebia, Ilipa, Magnesia, Zama, Adamclisi, Bibracte, Carrhae, and Raphia. There are text-driven campaigns covering Alexander’s conquests, Hannibal’s adventures, the Wars of the Diadochi, Rome’s early fights, and the Peloponnesian War, with even more on the way.

With so many factions—from the Achaemenid Persians and Hellenistic Greeks to the Numidians, Sarmatians, Ptolemies, Seleucids, and all sorts of tribal warriors—Strategos keeps every encounter fresh. You’re constantly challenged to think like an ancient commander, juggling tactics, logistics, and leadership in battles that can change the course of history.

Once The Strategos is downloaded, right-click the .zip file and select “Extract to Strategos ”(You’ll need 7-Zip for this, get it here).
Open the Strategos folder and run the exe application.
Have a blast playing! Remember to run the game as administrator. If you get any missing dll errors, check for a Redist or _CommonRedist folder and install all the programs in there.
