Edmund McMillen (yeah, the guy behind The Binding of Isaac) and Tyler Glaiel (The End Is Nigh) cooked up Mewgenics—a wild roguelite that mashes up deep tactical combat with a weirdly detailed cat breeding sim.

The whole thing takes place in this offbeat place called Boon County, where you’re basically herding a gang of cats pulled straight from your ever-expanding home. You slap different collars on them—think Fighters, Tanks, Mages, the usual—and then throw them into turn-based battles.

The trick? Positioning, messing with the environment, and stringing together ridiculous power combos. That’s how you survive and, more importantly, score food and loot. ROMEO IS A DEAD MAN

But here’s where it gets really interesting: the “Cat Loop.” When your cats make it out alive, they don’t just come back home for a nap. They drag back scars, weird new skills, and the occasional mutation.

Those quirks pass down to their kittens, so you end up breeding and tweaking your feline bloodline, always chasing that perfect, unstoppable squad.

Over 1,000 abilities, 900 items, 200 enemy types… and if you’re the type who loves to break a game wide open, there’s a 200-hour campaign just begging for you to experiment, optimize, and push every system to its limits.

Sure, Mewgenics starts out easy to grasp, but it doesn’t stay that way. Before you know it, you’re sweating over every decision—not just who fights, but which kittens stick around, which ones you trade for upgrades, and how to juggle your weird little cat family.

It turns into this chaotic mix of genetics, tactics, and resource management, where every gene and every coin counts. Oh, and yes—you can still pet the cats. Wouldn’t be much of a cat game if you couldn’t.

HOW TO DOWNLOAD

1. Click the Download button below and you’ll be redirected.
2. Wait for 5 seconds and then hit the blue ‘download now’ button. The download will start, so just hang tight.
3. Once The Mewgenics is downloaded, right-click the .zip file and select “Extract to Mewgenics ”(You’ll need 7-Zip for this, get it here).
4. Open the Mewgenics folder and run the exe application.
5. Have a blast playing! Remember to run the game as administrator. If you get any missing dll errors, check for a Redist or _CommonRedist folder and install all the programs in there.
