GAME OVERVIEW

Heroes of Science and Fiction (which used to go by Silence of the Siren) throws you into a galaxy that’s basically fallen apart—an alliance has collapsed, and the Siren star system is a wreck, with tech everywhere and ruins from civilizations long gone.

Oxymoron Games, the studio behind Project Hospital, rolled out its full v1.0 release on March 26, 2026. The game feels like a modern twist on classics like Heroes of Might and Magic, but swaps out fantasy for space-age science fiction.

You pick one of five space-faring factions, each with their own base and seven unique unit types that you can upgrade. The main goal? Competing for control over whatever’s left of the mysterious Primal civilization. Outbreak Island

Gameplay is a mix of exploring planetary surfaces—each a little different—and getting into gritty, turn-based fights on hex maps. You scavenge rare resources so you can upgrade your tech and headquarters, and you’ve got Commanders who matter way more than you might expect.

There are over 54 abilities and 24 skill options to customize them. You’ll hunt down artifacts scattered across the world, boost your squad, and square off with the strange remnants (the “shades and echoes”) of the Primals lurking in hidden corners.

Right now, it’s available on Steam for PC, and people have really gotten hooked on the hand-drawn art and the depth you get from tinkering with unit upgrades. Since the game left Early Access, the devs have added a Level Editor and full Steam Workshop support, so the community’s already churning out custom planets and campaign maps.

Whether you’re digging into Primal secrets or just smashing rivals in a quick skirmish, Heroes of Science and Fiction doesn’t let up. It’s got tons of atmosphere and plenty to do in a star system that’s pretty much on its last legs.

Once The Heroes of Science and Fiction is downloaded, right-click the .zip file and select “Extract to Heroes of Science and Fiction ”(You’ll need 7-Zip for this, get it here).
Open the Heroes of Science and Fiction folder and run the exe application.
Have a blast playing! Remember to run the game as administrator. If you get any missing dll errors, check for a Redist or _CommonRedist folder and install all the programs in there.
