In Esoteric Ebb, forget the usual “holy healer” fantasy. Here, you’re a cleric stuck in a mess of debt, brine, and endless government paperwork. The game hit on March 3, 2026, and it’s a “Disco-like” CRPG from Christoffer Bodegård that swaps out cosmic wars for the gritty chaos of local politics.

Your job? Investigate a mysterious tea shop explosion, all while Norvik’s first election looms just five days away.

Gameplay feels like someone dropped a tabletop RPG right into your computer. Failing is often more fun than winning. Everything runs on dice rolls, straight from Dungeons & Dragons. So if you try to “wrestle a dwarf” or “debate a drunk sphinx” and blow the roll, the story doesn’t stop—it veers off somewhere completely wild.

Holding it all together is the Questing Tree, which is part quest log, part skill tree. Every choice you make gets baked into your character. If you help out the Freestriders, you’ll get sneakier; call yourself a wizard enough times and, eventually, you actually get better at magic.
