Aether & Iron isn’t just another RPG—it’s a moody, sharp-edged ride through a 1930s New York that never was. Picture noir shadows and neon, but with airships circling skyscrapers and everything humming with “aether-punk” energy.

The game dropped on March 26, 2026, from Seismic Squirrel, with a writing team that’s worked on Mass Effect and Far Cry, so you know the story’s going to pull you in.

The art style feels straight out of old detective comics—hand-drawn, full of sharp corners and Art Deco flair. But it’s not all style; there’s plenty of grit, too. Combat doesn’t toss you behind cover on foot in another bland shootout. Instead, most of the action happens in custom-built rides.

Fast, slick “evasive” rigs let you slip away from trouble, or maybe you prefer a hulking brawler covered in armor, belching smoke and ready to trade blows. Every battle’s a back-and-forth, turn-based scrap on wheels (or wings, sometimes).

There’s a real “found family” vibe, too. The city’s dangerous, so you gather a crew—over 200 voiced characters. They’re not just cardboard cutouts, either. Everyone’s got a story, baggage, and a set of skills that can flip a bad street jam or help smooth over a tense negotiation.

Character growth is simple but punchy. Hustle gets things moving, Smarts untangle problems, Brass gives you the guts to act. Every big move feels like it hangs in the balance—a single dice roll between a big score or getting burned.

Outside of battles, you’re living the smuggler life for real. Stash contraband in hidden panels, duck patrols, and pick a side. Maybe you’re just scraping by, maybe you’re part of the brewing rebellion against the city’s corrupted rulers. The world keeps churning, and your story moves right along with it.
