The game takes clear inspiration from the real horrors of Brazil’s military dictatorship era between 1964 and 1985. It digs into themes like oppression, memory, and the scars a violent regime can leave behind.

The story doesn’t hold back, confronting players with the fallout from censorship, disappearances, and brutality. It feels heavy, emotional, and it’s up to you to piece together what really happened.

On the gameplay side, Subversive Memories is a love letter to late ‘90s survival horror. Think grainy 3D graphics, tight resources, and lots of tension.

You’ll get lost in maze-like corridors, juggle limited supplies, and need to decide when it’s smarter to run and when it’s worth standing your ground.
