GAME OVERVIEW
Xenonauts 2 picks up where the original X-COM: UFO Defense left off—except it’s not just a retread. Goldhawk Interactive launched the 1.0 version on April 2, 2026, and it drops players into a world where the Cold War dragged on and the Berlin Wall still splits the globe.
You’re in charge of a secret, multinational group that has to fight off a creeping alien conspiracy without triggering a global disaster. All the while, you’ve got to tiptoe around the political powder keg of a divided planet.
The game splits into two main parts: the Geoscape, where you handle base-building and research, and the Ground Combat missions, where your squads face down aliens in tense, turn-based battles. Cursed Blood
On the Geoscape, you’re building a network of covert bases—not just one—and managing over 100 research projects to keep up with the invaders’ tech. It’s about outsmarting both the enemy and the world’s superpowers.
Once boots hit the ground, the tactical side kicks in. The Devs have really upgraded the combat since the first game. Now you get a fully rotatable 3D camera and something like 180 plus map layouts. Every firefight is risky—cover, line-of-sight, and positioning can mean survival or a permanent loss of one of your best soldiers.
There’s more going on than just aliens, too. One of the freshest twists is “The Cleaner Conspiracy.” The Cleaners are a group of humans who’ve been turned by the alien threat. They don’t attack head-on—they use false-flag operations and sneaky infiltration, forcing you to dig through their bases for intel and try to figure out how deep their betrayal goes.
Air combat gets a real upgrade here, too. Instead of the old “one fighter versus one UFO” setup, you’re launching full squadrons and guiding real-time dogfights. You get to control every maneuver, afterburner burst, and missile volley, piling onto bigger ships with numbers and tactics.
Research has its own spin: Progress depends on what you capture. Snag an alien corpse? Autopsy it. Grab working tech or haul an enemy platform back to base? Scientists can reverse-engineer it, unlocking fancy new weapons, robotic MARS combat units, and tailored armor. Basically, everything you drag home from the battlefield gives you an edge.
HOW TO DOWNLOAD

- Wait for 5 seconds and then hit the blue ‘download now’ button. The download will start, so just hang tight.
- Once The Xenonauts 2 is downloaded, right-click the .zip file and select “Extract to Xenonauts 2 ”(You’ll need 7-Zip for this, get it here).
- Open the Xenonauts 2 folder and run the exe application.
- Have a blast playing! Remember to run the game as administrator. If you get any missing dll errors, check for a Redist or _CommonRedist folder and install all the programs in there.
