GAME OVERVIEW
In Nova Roma, you don’t just admire the glory of the Roman Empire—you get to build it all over again. Lion Shield, the folks behind Kingdoms and Castles, dropped this new city-builder on March 26, 2026.
The setup? You lead a handful of people escaping a crumbling Rome, determined to create a fresh, thriving city from scratch.
It starts as a tiny village, and you’re in charge of everything: turning migrants into artisans, gladiators, and performers, while juggling supply chains for basics like bread and finer things like pottery and wine. MARVEL MaXimum Collection
What really sets Nova Roma apart is its water and weather physics. The environment isn’t just a backdrop—it’s a big player. You’ll have to build huge dams and aqueducts, reshape rivers, and create new watersheds to make your crops happy. But nature fights back.
If you aren’t careful, one bad rainy season can flood your city and wipe out your progress. Expanding fast is tempting, but it comes with risks. Push too hard, and you’ll watch your city sprawl out of control or suffer an environmental meltdown.
The gods get involved, too. Managing your relationship with the Roman Pantheon is a must. Build temples, complete divine tasks for Jupiter or Vulcan, and they’ll bless you. Skip out on these duties, though, and expect trouble—anything from lightning storms to nasty plagues.
Right now, Nova Roma is in Early Access for PC (Steam, GOG, Epic Games Store) and Xbox Game Pass (Game Preview). Players are already calling it “Very Positive,” and honestly, it’s easy to see why. The game mixes historical engineering with a reactive world that keeps you on your toes.
HOW TO DOWNLOAD

- Wait for 5 seconds and then hit the blue ‘download now’ button. The download will start, so just hang tight.
- Once The Nova Roma is downloaded, right-click the .zip file and select “Extract to Nova Roma ”(You’ll need 7-Zip for this, get it here).
- Open the Nova Roma folder and run the exe application.
- Have a blast playing! Remember to run the game as administrator. If you get any missing dll errors, check for a Redist or _CommonRedist folder and install all the programs in there.
