Mofft and Lasling are caught up in a tangled past, but their connection turns out to be a chance for redemption for both of them. Mofft wonders if meeting Lasling was the result of a tragic accident and questions if she’d still stick around even as his life crumbles.
In the mountains behind the company, Lasling waits for him under the cypress tree, even now the weight of past mistakes continues to haunt Mofft, making him question if he’ll ever find peace or happiness by heading to the distant south.
